1. Start a website on your general topic with an opt-in box to capture people’s name and email address so you can start to build a relationship with them. (You can give them an audio excerpt of the ebook to motivate them.)
If you’re a mystery writer, for instance, you could start a mystery-writing related website and feature works by better known authors in the field. That will help you get people’s attention who care about mystery works.
2. Interview better known authors in you ebook genre. When you interview other writers who already have a following you will capture emails of their followers and then you can introduce them to your own ebook works.
3. Create a video telling people how your story came to be and introduce them to your characters. People appreciate getting to know the author on a more personal level and it increases your ebook sales over time.
4. Create a line of products based on the characters in your story and then sell them. You could carry caps, t-shirts, mugs and more! Not only will you make some extra money but your buyers will be spreading the word about your story every time they wear or use one of your related products.
5. Have a contest- get your readers involved! If it’s mystery ebook you could create a murder mystery. When people enter the content they could receive a booklet on the background of the mystery. Create a context. And then, whoever figures out who the murderer is could win gifts- maybe a free copy of your book and a line of products from the ebook.
